In the mid 1970’s my father, John Twomey, started growing vegetables on the family farm in Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork and supplying to local outlets and city markets. He later went on to set up the Farm Fresh Butchers shop in Carrigtwohill, where he started making salads from his own home grown farm produce. In 1998, due to the popularity of the salads, Farm Fresh Foods was launched as a separate brand. With local demand for the salads going from strength to strength it was necessary to build a purpose built production facility which we situated on our family land in Fahydorgan, Carrigtwohill. From a young age I helped out with duties on the family farm and in the Butcher shop after school and in the summer months. It wasn’t long before the time came to make a career choice and at that time the business was expanding rapidly and a new production facility was needed. I decided to do a trade in stainless steel fabrication as I knew I could apply those skills in the fitting and fabrication of the new production facility. From there I went on to take over the business. Fortunately, over the years we have built up a loyal customer base and we now supply our range of salads throughout Munster.
