Rich in flavour, Micil Irish Gin has a rich, spicy, citrusy zing that contributes towards an unforgettable G&T.

People

Micil Distillery is Galway’s first distillery to open its doors in over 100 years.

It’s headed up by Pádraic and Jimín Ó Griallais, sixth-generation distillers continuing a 170-year-old family tradition.

The distillery traces its roots back to 1848, when the brothers’ great-great-great grandfather, Micil Mac Chearra, began producing Poitín from a small stillhouse in Connemara.

Process

Micil Gin is a pot-distilled gin, made using family knowhow and six generations of experience.

Firstly, the team picks Connemara flowers and herbs while they are in season. The botanicals are steeped in spirit for 12 hours prior to distillation. Then the macerated spirit is charged into the 500 litre Hybrid Copper Pot Still for a single distillation run.

All production, bottling and labelling takes place on site.

Provenance

Micil Distillery is in the heart of Salthill, Galway on the Wild Atlantic Way, less than 500 metres from Galway Bay.

Distilled with wild Connemara flowers and herbs, Micil Irish Gin is the result of generations of craft experience and is a true story of place.

It uses the same locally-picked Connemara bogbean that the family has been adding to their Poitín for over 170 years.
