PPWR goes live on the 12th of August
The European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) officially enters into general application on August 12, 2026. It is a sweeping piece of EU legislation designed to overhaul how packaging is produced, used, labelled, and recycled across the single market. It replaces the old 1994 Packaging Waste Directive which will be applied directly and uniformly across all EU member states, eliminating the confusing patchwork of different national rules.
