Auto Enrolment Delayed until 2026

This week, after much media speculation, the Government has confirmed that the first contributions under an auto-enrolment system for pensions will not be made until 1 January 2026. The retirement-savings system, called 'My Future Fund', had been due to start on 30 September this year, having missed previous targets. The SFA has been engaging with various political stakeholders and officials in the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment in recent months to express concerns of the imminent rollout of the programme amid rising business costs. The delay in activating ‘My Future Fund’ will provide small businesses some additional time to prepare for its eventual roll-out.
