Chemical Distribution Ireland (CDI) is the leading representative body for the Chemical Distribution Industry in Ireland. It is affiliated to IBEC. The main aim of CDI is to promote, support and encourage the further development of the multinational and indigenous chemical distribution sector in Ireland. CDI achieves this by building and maintaining excellent relations and a positive profile with Government, public agencies, other representative organisations, international bodies and patient groups.
CDI was established in January 1994 to address the needs of the chemical distribution industry in Ireland. In January 1997 CDI became affiliated to IBEC (The Irish Business and Employers Confederation). The association is a member of the European Association of Chemical Distributors (FECC). Through IBEC and the FECC, CDI lobbies at a national and European level. CDI operates to a worldwide standard called "Responsible Care" which is a programme of best practice encompassing all major activities related to the chemical industry. Mandatory auditing to "Responsible Care" is a condition of membership of CDI.
