Ibec Medtech and Engineering Leadership Development Taskforce would like to invite you to an event on "Multiculturalism and integration for non-native English speakers" hosted by Alcon in Cork, 11.00-13.00, 14 May. The event will explore the role of Employee Resource Groups, talent management, and more.

Speakers include: 

Jackie Murphy,  Site Head and General Manager of Alcon Ireland, and Chair of Ibec Medtech and Engineering Leadership Development Taskforce: She joined the company as a Manufacturing Engineer when it was Summit Technology, a manufacturer of refractive lasers before progressing to Head of Manufacturing. When acquired by Alcon, the Cork plant was repurposed to an Intraocular lens manufacturing site and Jackie was promoted to General Manager to start-up the manufacturing process for Alcon’s AcrySof® IOLs. During her tenure in this role, she has grown the plant to become a key site in the Alcon network, employing over 650 people. Jackie also spent three years as General Manager of Alcon’s US Intraocular lens/delivery device site in Huntington West Virginia.

Emmanuel Egbedire, Staff Engineer at Stryker Anngrove, Cork: A mechanical engineering background with over 6 years in Medical Devices. Started as a Project Engineer in Stryker Anngrove in 2020. In my 4+ years in Stryker I have developed various skills and knowledge such as, Inspection, Platform Creation, Knowledge in Additive, Medical devices and Process flow within Stryker. I’m Currently an Inspection Lead Engineer for Product Transfer within Stryker. I am the point of contact in Anngrove for departments in France and America when dealing with Product Transfer. I have also become the Multiculture lead for Anngrove, and I look forward to working with everyone to learn and celebrate each culture within Stryker Anngrove.

Andrew Campbell-Edie, Communications Manager, Irish Centre for Diversity: Andrew brings over 20 years of experience to his Communications role with ICFD. With ‘lived experience’ gained in the UK and Ireland, Andrew is a D&I champion with a special interest in positive role models. Andrew’s career is built on collaborative working and he is skilled at clearly communicating complex messaging.  He has had articles about D&I issues published in the Business Post, Marketing.ie and others.

Trasa Long, Talent Acquisition Business Partner, Stryker Ireland: I am with Stryker 14 years in total. I have 11 years’ experience in Hurman Resources. I joined the Talent Acquisition Team in 2022. I specialise in sourcing talent for Stryker in the areas of HR, Engineering and Project Management across Ireland and the UK.  

 

The Ibec Medtech and Engineering Leadership Development Taskforce was established in to help increase the number of women working in these industries and progressing to leadership, by learning from industry foresight and sharing best practice to help members make demonstrable progress. More recently, its focus has expanded to include, racial equity and multiculturalism, as well as LGBT+ and allyship.
