Small Firms Association welcomes extension of supports

December 21, 2021

Small Firms Director Sven Spollen-Behrens said “we welcome the supports announced by Government this afternoon particularly the reduction in the threshold for CRSS to 60% and the reopening of EWSS to business that have come off it in recent weeks. Many in the small business community, no matter where they are in the supply chain are feeling the pinch of these recent restrictions. It is vital that these businesses are now given the support they need to remain trading and retain employees on their payrolls where they can.”

“We also warmly welcome the extension of tax warehousing by another three months, which will help with cashflow for these businesses, but there needs to be a broader discussion around the paying back of tax that has been warehoused in the new year.”

“Many businesses now once again find themselves in the unenviable position of either closing or trading under very difficult circumstances and the new rules on the time a fully vaccinated person must isolate for will not help this. These new close contact rules must be kept under review and support payments made available to business who face labour shortages due to staff in isolation “Mr Spollen-Behrens concluded.
