Ibec/ Dept. of Environment briefing on proposed policy actions on single use cups

In this one hour briefing with the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications we discussed the proposed changes (levy & ban) to the use of single use beverage cups. The briefing began with a presentation from Bernie Kiely, Principal Officer, Department of Environment, Climate and Communications. 

Bernie provided an overview of the proposed plans to introduce a levy on single use cups for hot beverages and a ban on serving hot beverages in single use containers for ‘sit in’ customers. The Department is proposing to introduction these changes on the 1 Dec of this year. The presentation was followed by a live Q&A with the Department where members got the opportunity to highlight concerns and potential implications for business.
