Make May 24 Your Business
The next European Parliament must focus on doing more of what Europe does well - further progress in the single market, digitalisation and global trade In addition, the next Parliament must work to deliver a sustainable economic future for Europe by supporting carbon-reduction goals that are ambitious, achievable, cost-effective and do not leave business or citizens behind. In other areas, member states themselves are much better placed to act, including on important national issues such as taxation, labour market policy and social legislation.
The EU is central to Ireland's economic success. The 2019 European Elections are an important opportunity to strengthen Ireland's influence in EU Institutional policy-making and it is vital that the business community and the wider electorate take seriously what is at stake on 24 May.
In a call to action, Ibec encourages its member companies and Irish citizens to engage with its campaign and to:
- Find out more about the European Parliament and how its decisions impact your business and your job
- It is vital that the needs of business are a priority for all candidates. Engage with candidates and tell them that creating the right conditions for business will improve living standards, generate tax revenues, and grow employment
- Inform your employees of the benefits that EU membership provides for your business and their job
