Winter is coming - be ready

November 25, 2022

The 2022/2023 'Be Winter Ready' campaign was jointly launched by Patrick O’Donovan T.D, Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works, and Minister of State at the Department of Transport with special responsibility for International and Road Transport and Logistics, Hildegarde Naughton T.D. Also present was Ms. Evelyn Cusack, Head of Forecasting at Met Éireann.

The ‘Be Winter-Ready’ campaign, which is in its twelfth year, is intended to raise awareness about the particular challenges that winter can present and provides a coordinated and cross-cutting approach to public safety messaging and the dissemination of information on winter preparations

The advice has been categorised under various headings including: the Home, Road Safety, Schools, the Farming Community and the Business Sector.

This year’s ‘Be Winter-Ready’ campaign includes useful guidance for the Business Sector and outlines key issues to address as part of business continuity planning for, and in response to, severe weather events including planning for impact on employees, customers, suppliers and place of business (e.g. access roads, insulation of water pipes and risk of flooding).
