Technology Ireland announces new Chairperson
Technology Ireland, the Ibec group representing the technology sector, is pleased to announce the appointment of Brendan Kiely, CEO & Co-Founder of ThinScale Technology Ltd., as its new Chair.
Marking the appointment, Mr. Kiely said: "I’m honoured to be taking up the mantle as Chair of Technology Ireland. I look forward to working closely with the Technology Ireland Board and societal stakeholders to spotlight and advance the positive contribution the sector makes to Ireland socially, culturally, and economically.
“The country has emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic into an era of global and local uncertainty. One of the key focuses for my tenure is the launch of Technology Ireland’s ‘30 for 30’ initiative, in support of our stated vision of “Making Ireland a Global Technology Powerhouse”. These are 30 distinct objectives to lay robust foundations for the next 30 years of the Irish technology sector on behalf of all its stakeholders.
“Another key ambition of my tenure will be advocating strongly for an environment that supports the needs of the next-generation workforce. As a country, public investment has not matched private investment. This must change if the sector is to flourish. This includes more investment in education and development, to ensure that the workforce is equipped to capitalise on the opportunities ahead. That also means leaning into remote and hybrid work. Policymakers have taken steps in this direction, but more needs to be done to enshrine and protect these principles.”
