Property Industry Ireland welcomes the launch of the First Home Shared Equity Scheme
Property Industry Ireland (PII), the Ibec group that represents the property and construction industry, welcomes today’s launch of the First Home Shared Equity Scheme.
Chairperson of Property Industry Ireland, Ivan Gaine commented: “The First Home ‘Shared Equity’ scheme will support homeownership in a meaningful way. By bridging the affordability gap the scheme will underpin the viability of more housing developments and will result in additional supply of new homes. As we have seen in the preliminary Census numbers, the supply demand imbalance is larger than previously calculated, and we look forward to an increased pace on the initiatives proposed within Housing for All and continuing collaboration with Government and all stakeholders”.
Director of Property Industry Ireland, Dr. David Duffy said: “PII has been seeking the introduction of such a scheme for some time and welcome today’s launch. The scheme will offer more families the opportunity to own their own home. The scheme will stimulate the supply of new homes aimed at first-time buyers.”
