Diversity & inclusion at heart of successful organisations – Ibec
Ibec, the group that represents Irish business, today hosts its annual KeepWell Summit, bringing together a diverse range of international stakeholders to discuss how organisations can implement effective corporate wellbeing strategies.
The flagship Summit details the key opportunities for organisations in embracing wellbeing initiatives, including supporting diversity and inclusion in the workplace, as well as physical and mental health programmes.
Speaking ahead of the Summit, taking place in Croke Park, Ibec Commercial Director Paula Cain outlined: “As we look ahead to the remaining months of 2022 and beyond, retention and recruitment challenges are increasingly becoming the most prevalent issue employers face in the race for talent. Employment-seekers favour organisations who prioritise diversity, inclusion and employee wellbeing at the heart of operational decision-making.
“As the country comes together to celebrate Pride this month, it is important to reflect that embracing diversity and inclusion must be year-round and not just for June. Diverse workplaces are a key driver of workplace satisfaction, performance, and engagement. Such workplaces are characterised by greater creativity, innovation, higher problem-solving abilities and better decision-making offered by diverse thinking and perspectives.
“Mental and physical health of employees remains at the forefront of organisations’ decision-making. The pandemic saw significant focus being placed on individual’s wellbeing. Whether at home or in the workplace, we all had to come to terms with the impact that such a disruptive global event would have on collective social and mental wellbeing. In response, we saw many employers rolling out or committing to roll out further supports to protect their employees’ mental health and general wellbeing.
“Today affords an invaluable opportunity for a range of international stakeholders to come together and learn from one another the best practices that can position their organisations to take advantage of the myriad of opportunities that wellbeing initiatives can deliver for their staff.”
The Summit also saw the announcement of this year’s nominations for the KeepWell Awards, recognising and celebrating those companies that are prioritising the wellbeing of their workforces while showcasing those that have achieved exceptional success with their corporate wellbeing strategies.
