May 25, 2022

Ibec, the group that represents Irish business, is pleased to confirm the appointment of Patricia Callan as the Director of Financial Services Ireland (FSI) Group.

FSI is the Ibec trade association representing the interests of the financial services sector in Ireland. Its 155 members are involved in banking, insurance, fund administration, investment and asset management, corporate treasury, international financial services, aircraft leasing, securitisation and fintech. FSI also runs the International Financial Services (IFS) Apprenticeship and Skillnet programmes. The domestic and international financial services sector employs over 105,000 people and the GDP of the sector is €19.3 billion.

Patricia joins FSI having previously served as Director of Drinks Ireland, a position she held since May 2017. Previously, she spent 11 years as Director of the Small Firms Association, the Ibec organisation exclusively representing the needs of small enterprises. Patricia holds a BA (mod) in Economics from Trinity College Dublin and an MA in International Studies from the University of Limerick. Patricia is also the Chairperson of the Irish Association for Social Inclusion Opportunities, the national charity which provides a wide range of social inclusion supports to marginalised groups, including access to housing, social welfare, training, education and employment.

Speaking upon her appointment, Patricia said “Ireland is recognised as a global financial services hub, with 17 of the top 20 global banks and 11 of the top 15 insurance companies having a presence here. The resilient response of our sector to the pandemic, the huge growth of fintech and sustainable finance, the increasing number of women working in financial services and the concerted efforts of our sector to drive the skills agenda make this an exciting time to take on this new position.”

Patricia takes over the role from Paul Sweetman.

Ibec is also pleased to announce that Audrey Crummy has been appointed as Deputy Director of Financial Services Ireland Group.  Audrey joined Ibec in August 2011 as FSI Regulatory & EU Affairs Executive and was subsequently appointed Senior Executive with EU Responsibility in 2014. Also in 2014, Audrey was called to the Bar of Ireland. In 2018, Audrey led the establishment of Aircraft Leasing Ireland (ALI) as a group within FSI. She is currently Vice-Chair of the Business Europe Financial Affairs Group. She is also a Board Member of the Western Development Commission, and a member of its Audit & Risk Committee.
