Industry welcomes Janssen Sciences investment announcement in Co. Cork
BioPharmaChem Ireland (BPCI), the Ibec group representing biopharma manufacturing in Ireland, today welcomed the announcement by Janssen Sciences to invest a further €150 million in its plant in Barnahely, Co. Cork. This investment, which follows on from a previous investment of €300 million, will create a further 180 highly skilled jobs at the site. This Cork site is a state-of-the-art facility producing biotech products for the treatment of a wide range of illnesses.
BPCI Director Matt Moran said: “This is fantastic news for the company and for the biopharma sector as a whole. This critical industry exports more than €100 billion worth of goods annually and employs over 42,000 directly and responsible for the same number of employees again indirectly.
“It is vital that the industry continues to invest in these kind of advanced manufacturing projects. It is great to see Janssen leading the way on this and BPCI and the wider industry warmly welcome this investment.”
