Expected easing of restrictions brings timely boost for business
Ibec, the group that represents Irish business, has said that the expected easing of Covid restrictions will be a relief and a boost of confidence for businesses. However, following the latest period of remote working and induced temporary closures, Ibec has said that such easing must be accompanied with clear guidance on phased returns to the workplace.
Ibec Director of Membership and Sectors Sharon Higgins said: “Since the outset of the pandemic, businesses have worked tirelessly in both shaping and implementing the Work Safely Protocol Guidelines to ensure safe working environments.
“Following the past number of weeks of extensive remote working, businesses are now intensifying plans for a phased and managed return of colleagues to the office for opportunities to meet, innovate, and collaborate in person. A roadmap must be offered by Government in order to ensure the effective implementation of a safe return to the workplace.
“After the many bad days we have shared since 2020 and the outset of Covid, it is welcome to be able to acknowledge the progress that our society has made collectively to reach this point. It provides hope for many businesses, particularly those operating within the Experience Economy, of a gradual return to recovery following an extremely difficult couple of months.”
