Commitment to return to office protocols a reflection of reduced risks
Ibec, the group that represents Irish business, has said that the commitment within the updated Covid guidance from Government for a continued return to office on a phased basis is to be welcomed.
Ibec CEO Danny McCoy said: “Today’s announcement that the return to workplaces can continue on a phased basis is to be welcomed and reflects the risk reduction that the vaccine programme is delivering.
“It is encouraging to note that today’s updated health measures allow for the further reopening of many businesses, including some for the first time in 21 months. However, it must be acknowledged that many sectors still face difficult trading challenges in the weeks and months ahead while some restrictions remain. While the health consequences are an important dimension, so too are the livelihoods of the staff of these businesses, and such businesses must continue to be provided with the necessary financial supports to ensure that they remain viable.
“While further clarity is required on several provisions detailed in today’s health measures, the Irish business community looks forward to remaining closely engaged with Government, beginning with this afternoon’s meeting of the Labour Employer Economic Forum (LEEF), to ensure the effective implementation of the health measures.”
