Ibec welcomes application to establish a Technological University in the South East
Ibec, the group that represents Irish business, welcomes the submission of an application by Waterford Institute of Technology and Carlow Institute of Technology to become a Technological University.
Commenting on the development, Ibec Senior Regional Policy Executive, Helen Leahy, said: “Business fully supports the application for the establishment of a Technological University in the region. The application represents a significant milestone and is a vital step forward in realising the ambition to grow the region and deliver more balanced regional development.
“A Technological University has the potential to be a major driver of growth and regional competitiveness. A university of scale that is agile, responsive, engaged with the business community and most of all, delivering high quality teaching and research would present significant opportunity to support business investment and growth, and will play a key role in addressing the challenges of a post-pandemic economy.”
