Food Drink Ireland comments on recent Covid-19 outbreaks

Food Drink Ireland, the Ibec group representing the food and drink sector including secondary meat processors, met with Government officials this morning to discuss recent Covid-19 outbreaks in the sector.
Food processors, as essential businesses, continue to fully implement the prevention and control measures in the National Return to Work Protocol and the specific HSE guidance for meat processing. Implementation is being verified by the Health and Safety Authority and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
There was strong agreement that processors should reinforce communications to ensure staff are fully aware of safe practices to follow in work and outside work in the community.
The speed of testing and contact tracing was also highlighted as a priority issue by the sector.
