Ibec expresses concern about invalidation of EU-US Privacy Shield
Ibec, the group that represents Irish business, notes today’s ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) on the so-called ‘Schrems II case’ (Case C-311/18).
Ibec CEO Danny McCoy said: “We welcome the validation of Standard Contract Clauses as a mechanism to underpin secure data transfers to third countries.
“However, we are concerned about the invalidation of the EU-US Privacy Shield. We support the EU and US authorities in working together to ensure a revised framework for EU-US data exchange, addressing privacy issues as well as the needs of modern digital business.”
