Business supports publication from Taskforce for Aviation Recovery

July 10, 2020

Ibec, the group that represents Irish business, supports the call for the easing of travel restrictions outlined in the final report from the Taskforce for Aviation Recovery published today.

Ibec CEO Danny McCoy said: “The vagueness of the term ‘essential’ travel has the potential to undermine the Government’s ambition to reboot the economy. As an island-economy, the success of our economic recovery will be shaped by our capacity to engage in international connectivity and mobility. The variety of aviation routes enables our businesses to connect globally, facilitating the travel of subject matter experts coming and going who serve our businesses and wider economy. The removal of existing travel restrictions is needed in order to sustain jobs, while also bringing Ireland more in line with our European counterparts.”

Mr. McCoy added that the business community echoes the report’s call for a comprehensive test and trace regime of scale to be made available.
