Business supports calls from Aviation Taskforce
Ibec, the group that represents Irish business, supports the recommendations of the Interim Report of the Taskforce for Aviation Recovery that call for the lifting the 14-day quarantine period and the easing of travel restrictions by 1 July.
Ibec CEO Danny McCoy said: “The business community does not believe the continuation of such quarantine impositions at this point in the efforts to flatten the public health curve is either logical or implementable. Uncertainty around the timing and application of measures such as these only serve to compound the severe economic and social disruption experienced to date.
“Reopening and encouraging international connectivity and mobility is a crucial component in our economic reboot and recovery. Ireland is now out of line on this issue with most other European countries and it is vital for both business travel and efforts to sustain our tourism sector that the restrictions are removed.”
