Covid-19: Retailers working with suppliers to ensure supply continuity
Commenting on the implications of Covid-19, Retail Ireland, the Ibec group that represents the Irish retail sector, today said while there has been some elevated demand for certain non-perishable grocery products over recent days, supply chains are operating as normal and are well-placed to respond. Retailers are working with their suppliers and monitoring consumer behaviour to anticipate and meet any changes in future demand.
The demand for hand gels and disinfectant wipes has increased significantly as individuals and businesses take sensible precautions to reduce the spread of Covid-19, in line with official advice. Retailers are actively working with suppliers to address any shortfalls that arise in this regard. It is important to stress that the HSE has continually stressed that thorough handwashing is an effective and important method of preventing the spread of Covid-19.
