
Michael is a Senior Executive with BioPharmaChem Ireland (BPCI), a trade association within Ibec, where he has responsibility for environment, health & safety. He is also the head of occupational health & safety (OHS) policy in Ibec. He is Chairperson of the Management & Executive Boards of the European Agency for Safety & Health at Work (EU-OSHA) and is an employer representative on the European Commissions’ Advisory Committee on Safety & Health (ACSH).
He is a former Deputy Chairperson of the Board of the Health and Safety Authority in Ireland. He has a BA (Mod.) and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Trinity College Dublin, a Diploma in SHWW from UCD and a Diploma in Employment Law from NCI.

Ruth is an Executive within Ibec’s Knowledge Centre on both the Employer Relations and Occupational Health and Safety teams. She has a Bachelor of Law and Irish from UCC (BCL GA), and has legal and State investigation experience. She completed the Graduate Programme in Ibec in 2019/2020. Ruth has also completed a Diploma in OHS and has worked extensively on the challenges presented to employers during the Covid-19
pandemic. She is currently working on a campaign on hybrid working.

Elaine is an Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) professional with a wide range of experience in the medical device, semiconductor and property management industries. She has a MSc in Applied Environmental Sciences (QUB); BSc Environmental Health (DIT and TCD); Higher Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (UCD); and a Diploma in Employment Law (TUDublin).

James has 15 years management experience in private and public sector organisations; a graduate of UCC James has a specific interest in the areas of employee engagement, culture and change management. Dr Robert Ryan graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland in 1989. He joined Medmark Occupational Healthcare in 1995 and has been its Managing Partner for over 10 years. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He is a specialist occupational physician in fulltime practice, with an interest in complex, multifaceted and stress related cases. He is also involved in the training and education of doctors and is the current Dean of the Faculty of occupational medicine RCPI.

Claire is the HR Strategy Specialist in Ibec. She is responsible for the provision of guidance on HR best practice and HR strategy to Ibec member companies. She is an expert in remote/hybrid working, performance management, employee engagement and change management. She has a background in employee relations and employment law. She holds an MBS in Human Resource Management from the Smurfit Business School and has trained as an Executive Coach.

Deirdre is a Partner in the Litigation, Dispute Resolution and Investigations Group of Arthur Cox and is a specialist in health and safety law. She has extensive experience advising on issues and enforcement under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and has acted for corporates and senior individuals in health and safety investigations and prosecutions for over 10 years. Deirdre is a committee member of the Health and Safety Lawyers’ Association of Ireland (HSLAI). Deirdre was awarded “Rising Star in Litigation” at the Women in Business Law Awards Europe 2020 which celebrate women lawyers across Europe who are leaders in their field.

Patricia is the professional Work and Organisational Psychologist at the Health and Safety Authority (HAS). She directs and manages the national psychosocial Programme of Work. Patricia designed, developed, and leads the work-related stress and bullying portfolios and initiatives focused on increased employee well-being. She uses evidence-based behavioural science to inform targeted safety behaviour change nationally across all industry sectors.
Patricia was the HAS nominee on the Government Expert Advisory Group 2005, and the International Labour Organization (ILO) on violence in 2006. She has widely presented at national and international level: conferences; stakeholder meetings; and research platforms on various aspects of workplace behaviour.
