Jon is Head of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution department at ByrneWallace LLP and leads the Insurance Regulation Group. He is one of Ireland's leading practitioners in the areas of corporate and white collar crime, commercial litigation and in large-scale project-based investigations in the financial services, health and insurance sectors. He also advises major public sector clients in the conduct of high profile statutory and non-statutory inquiries.

Jon is currently acting for the Health Service Executive (HSE) on securing injunctive relief against the hackers in relation to the ransomware attack on the state health IT systems, and has assisted in implementing an information protection programme. Jon is also working on and implementing Covid-19 surge 1-3 responses for the HSE with the private hospitals.

He is qualified in Ireland, England and Wales and New Zealand. He has worked in leading law firms in England and Australasia including Slaughter and May in the United Kingdom and Chapman Tripp in New Zealand, before joining ByrneWallace LLP in 2010.

Grainne McEvoy
Grainne McEvoy Director of Consumer Protection at the Central Bank of Ireland


Gráinne McEvoy was appointed Director of Consumer Protection at the Central Bank of Ireland in January 2018. She is responsible for leading and overseeing the regulation of consumer conduct risk in the financial services industry in Ireland including policy-making, authorisations, prudential supervision of certain sectors and conduct supervision of all sectors.

Gráinne joined the Central Bank in 1997 and has extensive experience in the area of financial services regulation. She Chairs the ESA Joint Committee Sub-Committee on Consumer Protection & Financial Innovation, and represents the Central Bank of Ireland at FinCoNet and the OECD Governing Council meetings on Consumer Protection. She has also represented the Central Bank at IOSCO Committee 5 on Investment Management and at the ESMA Investment Management Standing Committee, and has chaired a number of sub-committees within both IOSCO and ESMA. Previously, Gráinne served as Acting Director of the Central Bank’s Securities & Markets Supervision Directorate and as Head of Securities & Markets Supervision. In these roles, she was responsible for investment funds policy, regulation of investment fund and fund service providers along with the monitoring and surveillance of primary and secondary market trading.

Gráinne holds a Masters in Investment Treasury and Banking from Dublin City University (DCU) and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from University College, Dublin (UCD).
