A 'no deal' Brexit would create new barriers to the transfer of data between the EU and UK. In the absence of a UK-EU ‘Withdrawal Agreement’ that provides for the continued flow of personal data, Irish firms should consider additional safeguard mechanisms to legally transfer personal data to the UK (including Northern Ireland) after 31 October 2019.

Ibec is again partnering with the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) to highlight this data protection issue and to present guidance in the event of a no-deal Brexit scenario. The briefing will be addressed by Assistant Commissioner Nicola Coogan, Head of International Transfers with the DPC.

This event is a must attend for any Irish organisation that transfers (or plans to transfer) personal data to the UK (including Northern Ireland). Personal data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual e.g. data that identifies customers and employees. Some examples of Irish-UK data transfers may include outsourcing HR, IT, payroll or data storage functions to a UK based organisation.

Registration with tea and coffee will be available from 9:00am.
