The General Application Regulations of 2007 to 2016 amalgamated many of the relevant health and safety regulations that apply to all workplaces in Ireland. However there are a significant number of other pieces of legislation that are relevant to the management of health and safety in the workplace. Some are specific to certain hazards in the workplace and some are specific to certain sectors or industry types.

To ensure that you have considered all the relevant legislation applicable to your place of work, employers must appoint a 'competent person' with adequate training, experience and knowledge to advise them on their legal obligations.
