IBEC's regional structure ensures that members are serviced locally in addition to our national and international services. The purpose
of each region is to:
- provide a local comprehensive human resource and industrial relations service to members.
- ensure the climate for business is improved by lobbying for measures which encourage enterprise and investment .
- focus on issues of a purely regional nature, particularly in the context of the National Development Plan (NDP),the National Spatial Strategy (NSS) and the decentralisation of the State's activity.
- provide a forum for networking.
Key issues for regional development include the need for the creation of a world class infrastructure and service delivery throughout our regions in areas of transport and supply chain management, broadband, business regulation, energy, environment, education, training, marketing skills and research and development. IBEC contributes in an important way to deepening the economic and social development of regions and influencing the political process to ensure positive outcomes for our regional members.
Regional office structure
Each region, with the exception of the midlands and north east, has a regional executive council (REC) which is made up of senior people in local business. The REC ensures that all policy developments have an appropriate regional balance. Each REC has a president who sits on IBEC’s Regional Presidents Council which provides an important national forum to nurture, develop and expand upon regional issues. It ensures that policy and representational requirements for the regions are reinforced in IBEC’s national focus.
