This week at IBEC

IBEC continues to build positive relationships with the main political parties to ensure the concerns of the business community are heard and understood.

This week Labour Party leader, Eamon Gilmore, will address the IBEC National Council. Topics for discussion will include the public finances, economic recovery strategy and employment rights.

Following last week's publication of a national pensions framework, IBEC continues to analyse and comment on the pensions issue. While we welcome the commitment to raise the age at which people qualify for a State pension, we are concerned that mandatory provision will put even more financial pressure on struggling businesses and prove unsustainable.

Danny McCoy
Director General, IBEC
