What does vicarious liability mean?
Vicarious liability means that an employer is liable for the actions of an employee in course of his / her employment, regardless of whether the actions were carried out with the employer's knowledge or approval. However, it would be a defence for employers to prove that they took reasonably practicable steps to prevent the employee performing the alleged act.
