Description:As part of the Government’s first 100 days Programme, work has begun on developing a new Strategy for Education and Skills 2016-2018. This Strategy will be informed by the Government’s Programme for a Partnership Government and aims to advance the transformation of the education system.
Implication(s):Ireland needs clear, connected and robust structures, processes and measures to underpin the quality and quantity of relevant skills that are needed to deliver on our ambitions. It is important that the Strategy is closely aligned with broader policy including Enterprise 2025, Pathways to Work 2016-2020, the Action Plan for Jobs and Innovation 2020.
Current Position:The Government has committed to producing a three year strategy for the Department in the first 100 days and a framework for measuring its progress in consultation with stakeholders. Ibec's submission is attached.
